    Whoever perceives
    Within misfortune
    Fortune
    Within hunger
    Satiation
    And happiness
    Within misery,
    Beholding
    Joy and beauty
    Wherever
    Eye is cast -
    Such a one,
    My friend
    Sees
    Truly
    Indeed.

Ahh, that poem really hit home for me, haqiqu. I read it just after I finished texting my roommate about how I'm trying to decide whether to use what little money I have to eat now or later. Smile beautiful

    Thanks Norral and Aaron,

I like poems that express thoughts in a simple way. This last one does this beautifully. I try to find poetry that expresses spiritual truth. I cannot compose it very well, so I read all I can find. I'm happy you like it.

Aaron, I do hope you got fed. Did you find fullness in your hunger?

Maybe you were a poetic sort in a previous life, and that passion is on the back burner for now. :p At any rate, I share your love of poetry!

Reading that poem allowed me to realize the wholeness that was already there in that moment of perceived lack. And doing so allowed what was needed to come into manifestation, so that a higher order of things could be focused on. Because I was able to find fullness in hunger, the catalyst of hunger was no longer needed, and I came across some free food. Haha and to drive the point home, I was handed free food while writing this post. Love synchronicity!

Aaron, that a wonderful demonstration of letting the universe take care of you, as it will if we let go and let it. As the Sufi ideal goes "let go and let God."

You've traveled up ten thousand steps in search of the Dharma.
So many long days in the archives, copying, copying.

The gravity of the Tang and the profundity of the Sung
    make heavy baggage.

Here! I've picked you a bunch of wildflowers.
    Their meaning is the same
but they're much easier to carry.

My Many Colored Days By Dr. Seuss

    Some days are yellow.
    Some days are blue.
On different days I’m different, too.
You’d be surprised how many ways
I change on Different Colored Days.
On Bright Red Days how good it feels to be a horse
    and kick my heels!
On other days I’m other things.
On Bright Blue Days I flap my wings.
Some days, of course, feel sort of Brown.
Then I feel slow and low, low down.
Then comes a Yellow Day. [wheeeeeee]
And, I am a busy, buzzing bee.
    Gray Day…Everything is gray.
I Watch. But nothing moves today.
Then all of a sudden I’m a circus seal!
On Orange Days that’s how I feel.
Green Days. Deep deep in the sea.
Cool and quiet fish. That’s me.
On Purple Days I’m sad...... I groan....... I drag my tail.....
    I walk alone.
But when my days are Happy Pink
It’s great to jump and just not think.
Then come my Black Days. Mad. And Loud.
I howl. I growl at every cloud.
Then comes a Mixed-Up Day. And Wham!
I don’t know who or what I am!
But it all turns out all right you see.
And I go back to being…me.

    A Root in Each Act
    and Creature

The sun's eyes are painting fields again.

    Its lashes with expert strokes
    Are sweeping across the land.

A great palette of light has embraced
    This earth.

Hafiz, if just a little clay and water
    Mixed in His bowl
Can yield such exquisite scents, sights,
Music - and whirling forms -

What unspeakable wonders must await with
    The commencement of unfolding
Of the infinite number of petals
    That are the
    Soul.

What excitement will renew your body
When we all begin to see
    That His heart resides in
    Everything?

God has a root in each act and creature
    That He draws His mysterious
    Divine life from.

His eyes are painting fields again.

The Beloved with His own hands is tending,
    Raising like a precious child,
    Himself in
    You.

this is from "the prophet " by kahlil gibran

Then said Almitra, "Speak to us of Love."

And he raised his head and looked upon the people, and there fell a stillness upon them.

And with a great voice he said:

When love beckons to you follow him,

Though his ways are hard and steep.

And when his wings enfold you yield to him,

Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.

And when he speaks to you believe in him,

Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.

Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,

So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.

Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.

He threshes you to make you naked.

He sifts you to free you from your husks.

    He grinds you to whiteness.

    He kneads you until you are pliant;

And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God's sacred feast.

All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart.

But if in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure,

Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor,

Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.

Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.

    Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;

For love is sufficient unto love.

When you love you should not say, "God is in my heart," but rather, I am in the heart of God."

And think not you can direct the course of love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.

Love has no other desire but to fulfil itself.

But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:

To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.

To know the pain of too much tenderness.

    To be wounded by your own understanding of love;

And to bleed willingly and joyfully.

    To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;

    To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy;

    To return home at eventide with gratitude;

And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.

this is very much what i am feeling nowadays, the call to love unconditionally. risk involved in being vulnerable but we were put here
to bring love to this planet, that is a big part of our reason for being here
and surrendering to unconditional love is probably the most powerful thing we can do in our lives. to know the pain of too much tenderness, what powerful words

    Here's one I did:

"And upon the realization of mortality, the man felt the pains of a thousand thousand suns; releasing their greatest brilliance moments before death to nothing.

    And at the end of life, the suns felt the pain of the man;
who's brilliance was to never be."

    IT’S NOT ALL PRETTY

    It’s not all pretty.
    The earth knows terrible things.
    She receives all deaths,
    gentle and brutal.
She bears the pain of every birth.
    She turns all things back into herself;
she worries the bones to dust.

    She is changing, always changing.
    Layers shift.
Her own bones crash and break.

    Tides heave.
    Rock erupts into fire.
    It’s not all pretty.

    Beauty never is.

on abuse that has been going on for years

    so much unspoken pain
i cant even give it a name
abuse unchecked for years and years
leaving behind a trail of tears
well now its time to bring it out into our sight
lets place these feelings under the light.
let the abusers stand proud and tall
when their ugly deeds are known to all
that i doubt will ever take place
instead like cowards they hide their face
if u can do it behind closed doors
then do it now , here, while all are looking
dont shrink back dont be shy
u werent ashamed when u thought nobody could see
    your nefarious deeds
but now all of a sudden cat has got your tongue.
    u disgust me
    i hope u suffer

    norral

the reason i wrote this is that so so many on this board have been abused and mistreated and i hear people talking like they are to blame.
nobody who was abused is to blame . it is the abusers who are to blame.
and ill be darned if i ever let anybodies negativity make me feel bad about
myself. the truth is we live in a sick dysfunctional world and people like to infect others with their sickness. sorry this brother aint buying what they are selling. the only thing we owe the dysfunctional unconcious ones is our truth and i am more than happy to help them see themselves if i get the chance.

    Norral,

It might be helpful to consider/remember that those around us are living their personal realities, which might include negative expressions or positive expressions.

We are all on different paths, and the hidden beauty behind seeing negativity is that it is a reflection we observe and can make a conscious decision to accept or deny within ourselves. For example, we see someone make a hurtful post, and in that moment of observation we decide we would never intentionally write a hurtful post. But you see, it took seeing that negative deed to help you become even more strongly rooted in the light! Do you see the perfection in this?

You wrote a brilliant poem, but ironically, your last two lines lowered your own vibration to match the very people you are condemning!

My friend, find the acceptance and beauty in that we can observe negativity while realizing that it is not of our own heart. We all need catalyst in this form of positive/negative to have something to compare our experiences against. I offer the age-old question: "If you don't know 'hot', then how could you ever know what 'cold' is?"

Think about it, and realize that we need the negativity just as much as the negative folks need us to be positive and filled with light.

Instead of condemning, consider accepting others, realizing that All is still perfect, and All is still One in the end.

    Much love,
    Steve

    hi steve

no doubt its true we need catalysts to help us make choices. i also feel i provide a catalyst for the abusers as they can see the depths of dislike that exist out there for them. the only way they will ever wake up is when someone confronts them, they dont wake up on their own. so i consider myself a confronter. twice in my life i have intervened in a actual physical way with abusive people. i didnt want too i would have rather not have had to but they gave me no choice. both times the abuse stopped and never reoccured again. so that tells me something abusers need to be confronted and see just how pissed off they make others. i really dont care if they like it or not they dont care how others feel why should i care about how they feel. if a person doesnt bother me or someone close to me i will never ever bother them. if they choose to violate our boundaries there is a price to pay. to me its like someone breaking into your house, hey u break into my house u are fair game i am not going to stop and worry about how u feel .
whether it is " right or loving " in other peoples eyes is not my problem. i have to protect my own happiness and the welfare of those i care about. so yes abusers do royally piss me off and anything i can do to stop them i will absolutely do it and i want them to know i despise the way they act.

I can think of several reasons:

    1. They are likely in pain and that's why they are acting that way. They need healing.
    2. Jesus said to love your enemies.
    3. Jesus said to forgive 70 times 7.
    4. Forgiveness of those who hurt us is a cornerstone tenet of the Law of One.
    5. We all mirror one another, so whatever 'evil' is in them, is also in us.

I am in absolute agreement that we shouldn't let others abuse us. However, you can stop abuse without delighting in their suffering. Why would you hope an other-self suffers? That's the part I don't get. How is that even remotely in alignment with the Law of One?

    Hey there, Norral!

I can totally understand your position, and I see why you now chose to bring yourself to a negative level in order to make a point.

The problem, in my opinion, is that you are not helping anyone by bringing yourself down to their level. It is often explained to us that people are having very specialized experiences. And in cases where people are having selfish experiences, it is not going to help if you try to "wake them up". It's not your job to do that, my friend. You are trying to interfere with their life path in that case, which creates karma for you.

We are told to "let go", and to appreciate the perfection in all experiences. If we do not like what we see, we send Love to the situation and ask for the best outcome to happen. For you to send additional anger and negative words to someone only gives them more fuel!

Find compassion in yourself and "forgive" yourself for feeling anger towards others. And in doing so, you are resolving your own negative reflection. You will end up helping others to see that you are not like them, and they will either change to be more like the shining example you are, or they will move on to another area where they can continue their experience in an even more selfish fashion. This is the perfection behind our ability to have free will and to create our experiences based on our personal soul paths.

Please consider that you are hurting yourself more than you are awakening others, by lowering your own vibration and giving into the anger that you feel.

I hope this perspective is something you find interesting. If it is not of interest to you, then you may be choosing to experience anger as part of your path, so please dismiss anything that does not resonate.

Take care, Norral! I don't want to blabber on too much since this is a poetry area and I don't have any to contribute! hehehe

    Your friend,
    Steve

i have to be true to the way i feel. i never said i dont forgive those who are abusive. i dont walk around with hatred in my heart . but i do not and let me repeat do not like abusive people and the acts that they commit.
i honestly get the feeling that many people in the holistic community are more concerned with the well being of the abuser than the victim. case in point.
there was a 12 year old girl in florida who was walking home from school. this guy kidnapped her, raped her, burned her body while high on heroin.
now i think he has been sentenced to death. i would pull the switch myself with much joy and happiness.
another case in point, two g.i.s in iraq wanted to have sex with a 14 year old girl. they killed her parents raped her killed her and then tried to say the people were insurgents. again i would gladly kill them myself. and sleep very well afterwards.
yes these acts piss me off, seeing the perpetrators suffer would bring joy to me. if there is something wrong with that in someones eyes i really dont care.
the two people who i confronted physically i dont hate them. one was my dad and the other was the ex-husband of my sons wife. i dont hate them but if they weren't confronted the abuse would not have stopped.
the message i get from you is that u are saying to the abusers

oh gee im sorry if your hand got bruised while u were beating me up. what can i do to help you get better. is that what u are saying that u as an individual have no rights only the abusers do. were not allowed to get mad when we see injustice against others because we might damage the tender psyche of the abusers. is that what u are saying ? it is hard to have this conversation on the internet as there is no flow and i think we are both misunderstanding each other . but yes i am happy when people who do miserable things to others get justice . it makes me feel good. it that is a crime so be it.

    norral
and just one last point monica . are u saying u wouldnt invite me over for dinner if u had the chance because our views are diametrically opposed
BigSmileBigSmileBigSmile. i have to inject a little humor here m because i like u but we are like fric and frat we aint never ever going to see eye to eye
do u forgive me for that or am i unredeemable in your eyesBigSmile

    Language of Innocence

    When a river is frozen,
    underneath remains a current.
When the sky is absent of color
beneath the globe another world comes to light.
    When my heart is alone
somewhere another heart beats my name
in code that only paradise can hear.

    Is my heart deaf
    or is there no one
who can speak the language of innocence?
    Innocence, when words
suffer meaning and gallop away in its presence.
    I have seen it.
    Felt it.
I have loosened its secrets in the blushing skin
when upturned eyes witness its home
    and never turn away.
    And never turn away.

    There is this world
of slumbering hearts and hollow love,
but it cannot carry me to daylight.
    My craving is so different
and it can never be turned away.

Here's an exercise: That little child in your example...let's say he grows up and becomes a killer too. Would you feel the same joy killing the killer who was once the victim?

You seem to have everyone neatly categorized into 'good' and 'evil.'

But what about the child who was horribly abused, and because he never received any healing or love, grew up to be a killer too?

No, that's not what I'm saying at all.

Norral, this is indeed ironic! I just posted my opinions on this very topic, in another thread:

Strictly Law of One > Acceptance and Will

In fact, since this thread is about poetry, I am going to move these posts to that thread, and we can continue discussing this topic there.

No, that's not what I'm saying. Rather than repeat myself here, I will direct you to the other thread. There, you can read my very thorough and detailed explanation of what I think on this issue.

Gosh, norral, I don't expect people to agree with me, in order to be friends! If I were friends only with those who shared all my views, then I wouldn't have very many friends! I respect the views of others, even if I disagree. We are all entitled to our own opinions!

Of course, I would be happy to have you over for dinner! As long as you don't mind vegetarian food, of course! Wink

Forgive you for what, norral? There is nothing to forgive. Nor is it my place to judge you. I don't judge you, norral. And we don't have to agree.

    Blessings to you!

A quick one I whipped up as a reminder:

    White is every colour
    Black is power without wisdom
    White protects you
    while you guide
    the darkness with
    your will

I read this somewhere on a poster and love this quotation:

"Minds are like parachutes. They only function when they are open."

I used to have that bumpersticker on my car, along with God is too big to fit into one religion.

We are all behind the veil. We are all distorted. No one has the whole truth. Each has a fragment of truth. Now my truth may be diametrically opposed to yours but cannot we both be right in our own ways?
To me, truth is a multi-faceted multi-colored beautifully woven tapestry.
