    leave the familiar behind
    no fast forward...no rewind
    without memory...what is mind?
if nothing's lost then there's nothing to find
what one thinks seeds a cause
    awefully happy with awesome flaws
    aweareness creates...the creation awes
a moment to explore the eternal pause
    nothing is more grounding
than to hear your heart pounding
when you engage with each surrounding
all that you experience becomes awestounding
with a rhythmic ripple of yes
a message vibrates from my chest
    trough upon trough...crest upon crest
a harmonic nest where the searcher can rest
    peace,
    mikey

    I wish to let go,
let go of everything that holds me in chains.
    My trials and tribulations,
the seven lethal traits of my human condition,
    the pain and the confusion.
But how do I let go?
    The masters say let go.
    The gods say let go.
Fellow brothers and sisters say let go.
    Even I say let go.
    But let go of what?
It is still a different thing in this world,
between my stomach aching in hunger,
and your stomach aching in hunger.
As long as we do not feel each other in pain and joy,
letting go will not be an path that one can easily enjoy.
The pain of others is discussion,
but when it strikes me, it is personally equivalent to unbearable dissolution.
Then how will I let go?
The grandly constructed reality of shadows,
    seeks its dues without remorse.
Why O why, O Gods, do you use me like a battle horse?
    I am self-conscious.
Please allow me to let me go of that,
for only then can I really let go.
this is a nice poem, confused. it echos the pain we can experience when we try to look beyond the veil, so to speak. i learned from my studies in Sufism to let go of expectations and to let go of attachment to results. that was very freeing for me. so now i try not to expect a certain outcome from any situation and try not to be attached to any request or action of my own.

Dear Haqiqu, thank you deeply, my sweet sister.

I just wish to state for the record that I take upon a line of lines from the poem of the previous contributor to just fuel and expand upon a thought. It is not a counterargument, though it may suddenly seem like that at first sight.

Thanks for keeping alive this beautiful thread, haqiqu. This thread speaks the language of the heart. Moreover, I perfectly agree with the lessons you learned from studies in the tradition of Sufism. Thank you for sharing, haqiqu Heart

I took that as an invitation and continue like that:

    Spirit whispers in my ear
Although I do not always hear
Because my mind likes to distract
    Words tumbling down the cataract
Dissolving into the all there is
Like bubbles foaming in a breeze
And in the end it is what it is
No need to worry or say, “please
Release me from this thought disease”
Because they are a part of me
    And valuable as can be
And now I am stuck and find no end
This poem has gotten out of my hand
And I feel like Alice in Wonderland
    Tumbling down the rabbit hole
Well maybe that will be my role
So thanks for reading and be blessed
And since my personality is recessed
I will leave you now and let you rest

Hehe... Norral, wanna know what I did? for example, I did not know what to rhyme on "blessed". then I tried and checked the internet dictionary for matching words, and so I came up "recessed" for example. and it said "recessed personality" means something like "introverted" so I figured I take that.
Thanks for the compliment! Heart (but I wouldn't have managed without www.dict.leo.org)

but who does not feel her own inner call.
    She came into my life,

    In truth everything and everyone
Is a shadow of the Beloved,
And our seeking is His seeking
And our words are His words...
We search for Him here and there,
    while looking right at Him.
Sitting by His side, we ask:
'O Beloved, where is the Beloved?'

For The Time Of Necessary Decision

The mind of time is hard to read.
We can never predict what it will bring,
Nor even from all that is already gone
    Can we say what form it finally takes;
For time gathers its moments secretly.
Often we only know it's time to change
When a force has built inside the heart
That leaves us uneasy as we are.

Perhaps the work we do has lost its soul
Or the love where we once belonged
Calls nothing alive in us anymore.

We drift through this gray, increasing nowhere
Until we stand before a threshold we know
We have to cross to come alive once more.

May we have the courage to take the step
    Into the unknown that beckons us;
Trust that a richer life awaits us there,
    That we will lose nothing
    But what has already died;
Feel the deeper knowing in us sure
Of all that is about to be born beyond
The pale frames where we stayed confined,
Not realizing how such vacant endurance
    Was bleaching our soul's desire.

    Title: Pericles
    Author: Ralph Waldo Emerson

Well and wisely said the Greek,
    Be thou faithful, but not fond;
To the altar's foot thy fellow seek,--
    The Furies wait beyond.

i paint colors with my words
i say words with my colors
    i hear left-over chinese and
    feel swarms of black-ink birds

    tastes and sounds like merry-go-arounds
they swirl and they burl in our mindless minds
touching the sweetness and freedom of flight
energy and god abounds and abounds

and i curl up with my ceaseless senseless mind
and my unending wants and needs and binds
i find myself in bed in flesh and in blood
    and i tell myself temporary
    temporary mud...
    freedom awaits your highness

    The Kingfisher

The kingfisher rises out of the black wave
like a blue flower, in his beak
he carries a silver leaf. I think this is
the prettiest world -- so long as you don't mind
a little dying, how could there be a day in your whole life
that doesn't have its splash of happiness?
There are more fish than there are leaves
on a thousand trees, and anyway the kingfisher
wasn't born to think about it, or anything else.
When the wave snaps shut over his blue head, the water
remains water--hunger is the only story
he has ever heard in his life that he could believe.
    I don't say he's right. Neither
do I say he's wrong. Religiously he swallows the silver leaf
with its broken red river, and with a rough and easy cry
I couldn't rouse out of my thoughtful body
if my life depended on it, he swings back
over the bright sea to do the same thing, to do it
(as I long to do something, anything) perfectly.

    abandonmet

do u ever feel like your all alone

like this life and this world is made of stone

like what the hell am i doing here

help im drowning got to come up for air.

do u ever feel like what's the point

i didnt ask to come down to this joint

    nobody gets what im about

i just need to sit down and cry and shout

and then something happens , a song, a smile

the tender touch of a little child

the kindness of a stranger , a gentle hand

hey maybe im wrong about this land

and hope springs up, i'll give it a try

ill keep on striving in the by and by

and something inside says where almost there

and your heart fills up with invisible cheer

    we all have these feelings

    no one's immune

we ache for those moments of the deep commune

    closer and closer every day

together we walk this narrow way

so i extend my hand , grab a hold lets go

what we'll encounter we just dont know

but one thing is clear and thats for sure

that when we walk together we are so much more

so thats the song i sing today

hopefully it helps us on this way

the time approaches and now draws nigh

we soon return to our home on high

if u love completely you'll never age

if u love completely u will never age

so say the words of the mighty sage

open your heart and let it all go

love completely that's what i know

let me ask u a question oh mighty sage

what u are saying is we'll never age,

if we open our hearts and give all we got

gee might sage u are asking a lot

its not easy this unconditional stuff

sometimes i'd rather be mean and rough

and sit in judgement from the judgement seat

i dont really want to be meek

grasshopper grasshopper said the mighty sage

i tell u the truth , thou shalt never age

try my advice for just one year

and then return and sit so near

so off i went with a new attitude

i decided to love and not be rude

i did what he said for the following year

and guess what happened and started to appear.

the hair grew back on top of my head

my skin turned golden where once it was red

my wrinkles went away and i looked so young

oh mighty sage this is just such fun

one year later i reported back

the mighty sages name was jeremy jack

he took one look at me and smiled a big smile

he knew what i had been doing all this while

the moral of the story i guess u could say

    if u love completely

all your wrinkles will go away BigSmile BigSmile

    Dear sister Ruth

thank you for your kind and loving words. they lift up my soul. i truly truly
believe and know that nothing ever done in kindness and love is done in vain.. meerie
its funny but we spend so much time on outward appearances and stuff to make us
look good but when the light shines from within we truly become beautiful to others.
    love is the answer !!

Norral - your name sounds so familiar to me, but I'm pretty sure I don't know anyone living in New York. Still, I'm sure we're "related" if in no other way than our belief that love is the only answer we need right now! Keep letting it shine, brother.
P.S. I, too, still love the original King Kong movie! Today is my 59th birthday!

When the light shines from within,
the music of the spheres together sing something,
telling us that consciousness is the rainbow of creation.
The rainbow that fills our eyes with wonder,
as we attempt to grasp the mysterious intelligent infinity that we ponder.
The twinkle in the eyes of each other,
tell us that we already know the answer.
It is the question that we do not remember.
The question that will allow us to decipher,
the answer that stares back at us from the mirror.
The key has always been there,
and it fits a particular lock.
But as we view the path ahead,
we find a hall of infinite locks.
How do we know the lock of which we hold the precise key at hand?
We seek among infinite sands, for that one particular unit of sand.
When we turn the gaze within,
the shuttle between the ONE and us opens therein.
So have said the great sages,
to their disciples through the ages.
Meanwhile, unfolds eternally, the cycle's infinite pages.

Everything you see is an apparition of the unseen.
The forms are impermanent, yet the essence is changeless.
Every sight will return to the unseen.
Every utterance will end in the original silence,
Do not cling to the mirages,
The source they come from is eternal, expanding,
Spreading, bearing endless lives and endless joy.
    What causes the sorrow?
    When the source is within
And this whole universe is arising from it.
