    "In Lands Away From Here"

Her oceans sway in lands away from here,
    And lying under stars above, I wait;
To move alone and see my home appear,
At last! O, God! I come to what creates.

Her mountains peak in lands away from here,
    And rising up I view lights yonder low;
To see below I search for gold so near,
Alas! I tread to reach what angels know.

Her valleys shift in lands away from here,
    And rushing onward home, I move inside;
To live my life among the night so clear:
“Atone! ‘tis life awaits from changing tide.

    True world’s off far in lands away from here;
Walked hence to golden lights assuage my fear.

My most loyal friend is my jealousy.
I was the middle child and never got 'nough love, poor whiny me.
As soon as I stopped seing it as an enemy,
and instead was enchanted by its loyalty
it made both of us very happy !
I think I may be falling in love with my jealousy.

you're right, brother, the ones you speak of would never, in the first place, believe you were talking about them. in their minds they are the ones to be admired and they can do no wrong.

yep. arrogance is rampant here and i find it hard to take, too.

i'm sure many of us will be very humbled when we move on to our next existence. BigSmile

If you take light and love and put the two together then you get live. I just thought that was interesting and made me laugh out loud briefly. Smile

    The Third Way

The path is straight and narrow,
found either on taking the right or taking the left,
and sticking to it with a will of the adept.

In the duality of the right and the left,
I feel like a helpless child tossed from the cliff.
    The logos chose its mores,
    and offers me the chore,
of choosing between the right and the left,
and between the up and the down,
and between the light and the dark.

As I mused at my condition,
the celestial waters poured on me one day,
    and said -- "dear child,
    why art thou confused?
    Lo and behold,
there is a yet more a subtle path,
the path on which you have the choice,
of not having to make the choice,
between the right and the left,
and between the up and the down,
and between the light and the dark."

Said to me that wondrous voice of Balance --
"Take thou that path of the Tao.
    There beyond the dual paths,
lies a way that is ever subtle,
which is called the way of the Tao.
The way that is beyond the roads of duality,
for it indeed, is the third way, the way of unity."

I took the celestial waters into my palm,
and inquired at my own reflection within.
    The image of my reflection,
    contorted in extreme revulsion,
    for it knew the perversions,
that I had committed in my many diversions,
away from the realm of all creative unification,
in the desire to bend to my will,
    all divine manifestations,
descending and ascending into the Tao.

    The waters revealed,
    my self to the self.
    As my book became unsealed,
    I writhed and wriggled,
on hearing the sound from the bell of the Tao.
    As blisters broke,
through out my mind and my body,
    I invoked the celestial waters,
    to offer me soothing succour.

I asked of the limpid celestial river --
"Tell me, what is this way of the Tao?
Tell me, how can I tread it?"

The face behind the waters smiled,
as it saw its little child,
humbled before the power of the mighty mother,
    and willing to be schooled,
in the way of the Tao, the ALL father.

The face exuded peace and its resonant voice rang,
    and it said --
"My dear child, the way of the Tao,
    is revealed to those,
    who see that they are,
only humble channels of the ONE,
called also as the Tao - the being beyond all beings,
    the mystery beyond all mysteries,
and the nursery of thy true ancestry"

    The sweet river,
    continuing its message,
said further to me thus --
    "The way of the Tao,
is close at hand for those,
who, having sensed their role in creation,
    allow the Tao,
    to just flow through them,
so that in that sensation of letting go,
the ego reaches a state of non-desire.
That state O my dear child,
creates a life of no ego,
    and in that moment,
    comes the Tao,
before the eyes of your mind,
and you become a blessed channel,
in the here and the now,
    of the divine Tao."

I inquired further of the waters --
    "What happens then?"
    The self of the waters,
sprinkled a few petals of itself on me,
    and said --
    "Then my child,
you become one of no memory and no identity,
you cease to have a past and a future,
as you exist in the NOW,
in complete harmony with the Great Tao,
in the all that there is"

I folded my hands in gratitude,
and shed a tear of beatitude.
    The Celestial River then,
    breached in the middle,
opening to me the middle way,
the third way, the way of the Tao.

    Not dawdling

    Not dawdling
    not doubting
    intrepid all the way
    walk toward clarity
    with sharp eye
    With sharpened sword
    clearcut the path
    to the lucent surprise
    of enlightenment
    At every crossroad
be prepared to bump into wonder

Norral - about the compassion valve - I worked for a charitable organization for many years and became quite cynical. Long story, but your "turn off the valve" poem resonated with me.

Conifer16 - I frequently typo Love as Live when keyboarding or texting. Good observation.

Confused - again I say, you don't seem so confused to me. I can almost see waves of light and love flowing from the page whenever you post. Would you mind if I print your 3rd way poem to have on my bulletin board here in my home office so I can see it without logging on?

Love and light to each of you here!

oh that the whole world sb as "confused" as our brother here. it would be heaven on earth Heart

    caught in this illusion

    caught in this illusion,

i seem to have encountered some confusion.

which way to turn , left or right.

perhaps its because i may have lost sight

but not to fear, just a temporary thing

    life is about to bring

    something very special our way

    and then well see

that it was all worthwhile after all

and that what we thought was a mistake or distraction along the way

was in truth another tool to help us find our way

and lead us into our abode of bliss

Please feel free, Ruth, to have it up on your bulletin board. I feel humbled by your gesture of asking me that. Thank you, Ruth. May all glory be to the ONE, whose channels we are. All work comes through us by the power of the ONE.

    Dwell on what you love
    Not on what you hate

If you want to rise above
    Learn to appreciate

    Practice being grateful
    Notice how it feels

    Give away a plateful
    Expansive energy heals

    Like the sun opens flowers
    Intend to do the same

    A sharing Heart empowers
    Play the blessing game

    Remember to say "thanks"
To mother earth and father sky

    We all share equal ranks
All of creation's aware as "i"

    peace,

    You Reading This, Be Ready

Starting here, what do you want to remember?
How sunlight creeps along a shining floor?
What scent of old wood hovers, what softened
sound from outside fills the air?

Will you ever bring a better gift for the world
than the breathing respect that you carry
wherever you go right now? Are you waiting
for time to show you some better thoughts?

When you turn around, starting here, lift this
new glimpse that you found; carry into evening
all that you want from this day. This interval you spent
reading or hearing this, keep it for life -

What can anyone give you greater than now,
starting here, right in this room, when you turn around?

Norral said it! I second it!

Love and light to us all!
    The Power of Littles

    Great events, we often find,
    On little things depend,
    And very small beginnings
    Have oft a mighty end.

    Letters joined make words,
And words to books may grow,
    As flake on flake descending
    Form an avalanche of snow.

    A single utterance may good
    Or evil thought inspire;
    One little spark enkindled
May set a town on fire.

    what volumes may be written
    With little drops of ink!
    How small a leak, unnoticed,
    A mighty ship will sink!

    A tiny insect's labor
    Makes the coral strand,
    and mighty seas are girdled
    With grains of golden sand.

    A daily penny, saved,
    A fortune may begin;
    A daily penny, squandered,
May lead to vice and sin.

    Our life is made entirely
    Of moments multiplied,
    As little streamlets, joining,
    Form the ocean's tide.

Our hours and days, our months and years,
    Are in small moments given:
Then constitute our time below --
    Eternity in heaven.

No, Conifer16, I didn't write it. I took it from a book of poems. It speaks to me, so I thought I'd share it. I'm not really very good at putting words on paper. Seems I'm best at sending love.

    Light and love!

    i am a little church

    i am a little church(no great cathedral)
far from the splendor and squalor of hurrying cities
-i do not worry if briefer days grow briefest,
i am not sorry when sun and rain make april

    my life is the life of the reaper and the sower;
my prayers are prayers of earth's own clumsily striving
(finding and losing and laughing and crying)children
whose any sadness or joy is my grief or my gladness

around me surges a miracle of unceasing
birth and glory and death and resurrection:
over my sleeping self float flaming symbols
of hope, and i wake to a perfect patience of mountains

i am a little church(far from the frantic
world with its rapture and anguish)at peace with nature
    -i do not worry if longer nights grow longest;
i am not sorry when silence becomes singing

winter by spring,i lift my diminutive spire to
merciful Him Whose only now is forever:
standing erect in the deathless truth of His presence
(welcoming humbly His light and proudly His darkness)

love u sister .. heres another one from last night

    the light body ship

sitting down at the controls we did our pre-flight check,

anger and irrritation module, greatly diminished,

being ensnared in the activities of this world module - power removed .

the im so so ready and prepared because of all the suffering i have borne

on this planet in silence module, oh hell yeah that one is ready in all of us.

    check , check captain checkl.

we sat down at the controls and the light was streaming in

different parts of our body were activated at different times

deep deep seeing came over us.

the light of joy filled us

beauty and youth replaced any signs of age.

the miracle time is here dear ones

trust your hearts , we love one another

Here is a poem I came up with on the spot when my mom was looking for an example for my sister who was learning about haiku poetry.

    Firey flowers,
    Desend from the clouds slowly,
    A sight to behold.

Hope you like it. This is my first attempt since being in 3rd grade that I have tried to write poetry. My mom says she still has some of my poetry around but doesn't want to dig it out right now. So I will post them If I can find them.
