    Good Greetings:

Has anyone ever heard of the Burning Man in the Nevada Desert? It is as close to the vibe of the New Earth that I have yet to see on Earth now--- since 2000--- how could I have missed it all these years! Tongue

I learned of this from a video by an artist that my hubby and I follow--- and it looked so super incredible and cool... Total New Earth type of vibe.

We are hoping to go when we are able...

I've known about it for a long time.

I would like the homemade art, spirituality, community aspect of it.

I also know the physical environment would be very damaging for my health. The extreme heat, dust, potential for flash floods, no water-sanitation-etc., except what people pack in and out.

I realize that stark emptiness of the playa is crucial to the Burning Man experience. But it's not for me. If a similar do it yourself art festival was available where one instant without nonstop vigilance wouldn't kill you, I'd be much more eager to participate.

There is also something that I cannot fully identify but gives me an extremely uneasy feeling about some material I've seen. Both about the official point of view and about individual experiences. Can't quite but my finger on it but it seems to be a harsh, condemning edge of hostility.
Smug aggressiveness, or holier than thou hippy haughtiness against the "straight" world (not just sexually).
Despising, scorn or rage against "normal life" rather than having respect for what works, and compassion for those suffering from what doesn't work.
Excessively earnest or goofy in-jokes which I'm out of, which is the point.
Outrageousness for the hell of it.
The nihilistic despair behind Dada surrealism.

Just because you're weird doesn't necessarily mean you're wise.

Now that I know about channeling, it seems a lot to me like positive channeled messages that get corrupted by negative entities.

It would be possible to apply the Law of One at Burning Man, but not necessarily any easier there than in daily life. The event is a spectacle by design, not an attempt to bring balanced peace of mind, love and wisdom into the physical world. There is a cultlike element of a rule against questioning the unspoken rules. These elements occur pervasively; I've seen them in material from countless Burners going back a decade.

This is only my opinion, of course. You might love being there.

As with all things--- birds of a feather camp togetherSmile... I am sure the haughty hippie wannabes will be in a camp together and the serious artists will be in a camp together as well. The info was sent to me by a very serious and loving artist who is most conventional in most senses.

My hubby and I concur we would require respirators for this event... It would be pretty cool to see so much creating happening all the time---

It seems to me that there are some people whose creative urge expands beyond the boundaries of what is considered concensus acceptable. This seems to be the place for those sort of people. Even through the video I could feel tremendous creative energy and a sort of urgency...a need to experience, experiment, manifest and destroy at a swift pace. It seems like a great way to discover the potential of the moment.

I'm sure it's not a perfect group of people. I'm sure many of them have attitudes or behaviors that would rub me the wrong way, but where will you not find that? I've been to Law of One gatherings that I didn't particularly resonate with, but I still appreciated the fact that seekers were coming together in attempts to discover truth and service, as flawed and ignorant as we all are. We all just do what we can, and it seems like these people are at least making an attempt at being more open-minded than what you usually see.

Doubt I'll be getting out that way any time soon, but it does seem very interesting and it's always cool to see how various types of people express themselves.

I really liked the Gifting Economy. That is what interested me along with the just complete saturation of imagry and creative expression. It would be a once every 3 years or so type of experience. I found the Wind Storms to be fascinating.

I wonder what type of ET's are in this sector that Burning Man is held. I thought I saw something in the video and went back several times and could not "see" it again.
