You folks take care out there (USA East Coast). Evacuate if you can. Don't underestimate the storm surge if you're in a low lying area.

    Our prayers are with you.

I'm in the "high" threat zone, spared the "extreme" and "catastrophic" threats (oh news media...how you scare us so). Spent the past couple days getting chicken coops secured to the ground (problem with portable chicken coops is that the wind makes them extra portable), securing all the loose ends and flaps on the barns, and making sure all of the animals' shelters were dry and protected. I really hope a chicken house doesn't decide to abandon its chickens.

Yeah, blessings to all of you out there in the "eye of the storm". Stay safe, and keep us informed how it goes.

Into my home? Huh They all have shelters and barns to retreat to, just some of the chicken houses are portable on-pasture houses. It's one of the downsides of having free-roaming chickens. We've secured them really well, but the right gust of wind could do some damage to a barn let alone a portable chicken coop.

It's been raining hard for about 4 hours, winds gusting about 45mph...nothing extreme yet, hopefully it won't get much more intense than this. Looking at these conditions all day probably. Seems our worst threat is going to be flooding.

on the news they said New York is evacuated, and they predict the city is going to be flooded. I don't think something like that has ever threatened NYC, has it?

Yeah. My news says so. Mandatory evacuation of coastal and low lying areas. Subway shutting down at noon.

Well they've evacuated close to 210,000 people and counting now. People are heading into schools as shelters and supermarkets were all rushed. No trains or buses are running as of noon earlier today. The rain's getting pretty heavy.

I'm here in Queens, NY, but thankfully my area isn't in the evacuation areas/danger zones.

Only time will tell now how this all plays out.

yes they evacuated some people in new york, only a small portion, those who live in the low lying areas
.evacuating the whole city is virtually impossible and would take weeks at least. so far not so bad at 10 pm at
night here, well see the next 18 hours bring then the storm is over

I think I've seen the last of it with just some minor damage. I was right on the edge of the worst of it, just a bit further East and it would be a different story.

Good luck to those up North. I hope she loses steam on the trek up there.
