Whether I become a politician, journalist, or janitor my passions will always be there and I'll find a way to put them to use, even if its "just" through my intentions and immediate interactions, Spectrum's Ra quote kind of puts things into perspective.
This got me thinking alongside with Confused Ra quote in the second page of this thread. Probably many of us, when we were young, saw injustice and wanted to change these. I had many planes during my young era of making a difference. First I thought that I would be a journalist and go to places where no one else would go and report injustice for the whole world to see. Then I thought I would become some kind of volunteer worker and service in "the third world". Then I thought I would become some kind of researcher at University and uncover injustices between genders. Well, nothing of that happened. Why? Because one becomes discouraged step by step, and that youthful fire gets slowly but surely extinguished. So my advice to you, brother, you hold on to this fire! Don't let anyone discourage you. Many “old folks” might feel weary by being exposed to your desire. And they might come to you saying – "oh, my dear friend, I've been there. It's no point to do this or that. The world will never change." What a BS! The world do change! Maybe not over a night, but Rome wasn't built over a night either. But if we look back we do see the change! There is no visible segregation between black and white people on the bus today, is there? The slavery has been abolished. Inquisition in Europe is gone. And torture is no longer seen in the world as a normal part of the society. What if MLK got discouraged? What if Gandhi did? Yes, you will get affected by people and society who will try to bring you down and get you discouraged. But don't give up, as many of us, old farts, did. The world needs you. Go turtledude, go! I cheer for you!
