You outline a wonderful example of LSD gone right, with nice company and setting. I believe it's a much higher chance of having a great trip if these things makes the user comfortable. Strassman who wrote "DMT - The Spirit Molecule" outlines this idea quite throughroughly in that book. In a LOO viewpoint, this may make the user more focused and searching for love, and thus attract positive entities who wish to serve and not abuse.
I'm sure there are many negative entities waiting to crush the unprepared wanderer, who do not bathe these in unconditional love and light, which we have all read many examples of - whether self-induced or manipulated.
