it's not about who gets likes, this isn't a popularity contest. if you wanna make it that that's your ego talking and i'm not gonna mollycoddle anyone's ego.

you can see no likes as a lack or you can focus on the surprise moments you get a like or can give a like, because i see that as a little cheer up moment. i don't write posts to get likes but i appreciate if i get one randomly. i see likes as a way of telling someone i appreciate that moment i read what they wrote and it touched me or i agree with something or when Gemini posts his furry stuff i like and at the same time i send him some love for being him. it's a way to send some appreciation without words. words are sometimes hard and a like goes a long way. i would be sad if it was taken away.

intent is what gives it meaning. but we can't control how others perceive our action.

I just gave you a "like" solely for the use of the word mollycoddle.

Seriously, folks, if the "ignorant masses" on Facebook can handle a "like" button, so can we. Bottom line, in my opinion, is that people who want to be divisive will do so whether or not there is a "like" button. Dontcha think?

I agree, and what I've been saying for quite awhile. If someone doesn't like a particular discussion, why not just stay out of it? Rather than using the like button to gang up on others.

Whenever I choose to 'Like' a post it is simply because it either resonates with me, I agree with it, the post taught me something, I enjoyed reading through it or admired some statements within the post, it was a unique perspective, but simply because I liked it and it was positively received in my heart and mind. Thanks to the Philosophy class I took this recently finished school semester, Socrates and his approach has had quite an impact on me in his intellectual humility (I know nothing) and, more relevant to here, his predilection for viewing everybody and anybody he meets as a potential teacher of wisdom in any capacity, thus how my approach is structured.

I like - no, LOVE - every member of this community even if I have not directly corresponded with a few of you, and indeed it is completely impossible for me to dislike anybody here, form any judgmental or negative conceptions about any, feel apprehension or aversion to any, conduct myself in a disharmonious manner or get into a heated debate with any here as I perceive you all as various personas the Creator has manifested Itself as though on the individual level I enjoy everyone's unique personality here and cherish everyone's perspectives, opinions and statements here, or as much as your personalities are expressed through and color the thoughts that are written here by you all.

There's times when some of my posts get a few or many likes, and other times when no likes are given to a comprehensive post of mine, though for the most part this is of little concern to me because, as Oceania said, this shouldn't become geared towards being a popularity contest and when I post I don't do so to get likes or to stroke my ego from this, especially considering I rarely if ever pre-emptively ponder on what I'm going to post and ~95% of my posts are a case of automatic writing/typing written by an empty, detached, quiet, thoughtless and peaceful shell channeling a source within.

In any case, I love all of you and appreciate all the words you guys speak here. Smile Let the good times roll!

Things like this only carry as much weight as we assign them. This conversation has made the Like button awfully heavy.

There's only any extra baggage on it if you correlate it with such. People are still going to use the Like button and the Like button will still imply that a post was appreciated. The intention of the person pressing that button is known only to the button presser, as to why they pressed the button.

I was about to ask if the Like button created any divisions or begot disharmony any time recently but then realized such a question might be rhetorical considering the past few posts in this thread are full of speculation and debating on... a Like button. Only in 2012, on Earth, does a Like button become interpreted to be a "Meh" button, lol.

I'm not a big giver of likes just because i agree with someones position on an issue..
Its almost only reserved for the posts that make me go "hmmm, intresting"

Its relatively easy to attain likes from being social (like the burning sphere in the sky.. being best friend with everyone just isnt one of my priorities), this turns the "likes recieved per post" into something you can not compare across the boards and draw accurate conclusions from every time.

Since we are discussing in another thread that "God" is each entity (or at least it is what I am discussing, not sure about others :p), I guess that each mission that one is on, is the mission from God, huh? BigSmile

Sorry to bring this thread back, but there is a feeling that I can't shake off. I cannot shake the feeling that using the "likes" system is a form of judgement. I don't want any member to feel left out in a discussion and if I do not like the content of a post, I would like the poster to feel accepted and loved anyway. I have no way of doing this properly.

So please note all fellow other selves that I will not be using this system anymore. I know this is not the first time I do this, but I believe my decision is pretty much crystallized now. Smile

whenever i just dont feel the love cause im not getting as many likes as other members....i usually just realize ive gotta work on blue ray a bit more and lay of the green. the difference between being a green ray entity and a blue ray entity seems to me worlds apart in terms of thinking but no less sto.

Quote:Green ray is the movement through various experiences of energy exchanges having to do with compassion and all-forgiving love to the primary blue ray which is the first ray of radiation of self regardless of any actions from another. The green-ray entity is ineffectual in the face of blockage from other-selves. The blue-ray entity is a co-Creator.

nothing wrong with your choice to not use the like system Patrick, just thought it would be good to remember what is your catalyst and what is another persons catalyst. the like system is a little like the example of the grocery story in the Ra material where each entity observes the same thing differently.

Quote:Thus a scene may be observed in your grocery store. The entity ahead of self may be without sufficient funds. One entity may then take this opportunity to steal. Another may take this opportunity to feel itself a failure. Another may unconcernedly remove the least necessary items, pay for what it can, and go about its business. The one behind the self, observing, may feel compassion, may feel an insult because of standing next to a poverty-stricken person, may feel generosity, may feel indifference.

that you feel a person not receiving your "like" may feel unloved or unaccepted is your catalyst not theirs. If they felt unloved and unaccepted then that is their catalyst, not yours. not even if they accused you of making them feel that way.

Um, has anyone mentioned that sometimes you feel lazy, and just read the heavily 'liked' posts, and then thread through the discussion from there...

I'm not always in the mood to read deep philosophical discussion, but I still want to grab some good vibes. And heavily liked posts are almost always good vibes.

I initially thought they were anonymous. This would remove some of the ego from the post.

Also, this occasionally keeps me from posting. I think to myself: 'Will anyone really appreciate this?" And believe me, it's kept me from posting some worthless stuff.

And Godwide_void, even if you don't get any likes on a post remember that, being the internet, years later someone could stumble on a post right as they need it.

I'm a Leo ascendant Libra. I guess my rising sign is indeed taking over as I age. Smile
