I honestly never got the hype for the whole "OMG, 12-year old" this or that, etc. What's so amazing about it, that they are children? Is that what's so impressive?

Age is irrelevant. You are not your present incarnation, but a collective sum of incarnative experiences. You may bring previous knowledge/skills/talents from "past lifetimes" into the present one. For all you know, your newborn daughter could have been your great grandfather before. Or an Einstein. Or a Hitler. Or a homeless vagabond hobo.

But no, everyone's gotta go "woooooooo, 8-year old child genius!"

It's unconscious projection at work (of the positive type). Also many people read stuff about indigo children or what not and develop a fantasy, vacuum of expectation which presented opportunities (unconscious, whimsical, intuitive pattern matching) sooner or later must fulfill due to desire for that type of satisfaction.

I don't eat doughnuts. And I don't like jam (unless it's of the peach marmalade variety).

    Thanks for posting this.

Aliahmed's summary is excellent. You will not find such succinct analysis of the crisis in Egypt in any western news. I'd be happy to see anyone, anywhere using their faculty of free thinking to this level. The understanding and engagement of Egyptian citizens bodes well for the geopolitical health of the entire planet.
They knew the fight wasn't over after the Arab spring, they know that the fight isn't over now that Morsi is gone, and they'll know it won't be over after the next election. The fight for justice in Egypt is crucial in the global fight for justice. This is very positive evidence for a better future and it moves my heart to see it. If corrupt power loses Egypt, justice will spread like a virus.

The effects of a progressively more connected society. Notice how when she asked how he knew all that he said he simply listens and reads the internet/papers and tv and thinks for himself.

Kids know a lot more a lot earlier compared to when even I grew up in the 90's as a child. Although have to take into account his location and what is going on around him probably helped his desire to build knowledge.
