for me, on this side of the Veil, I have always been seeking. Since from as early as I can remember. I knew something was 'up'. Of course, it wasn't until I had my horrendous experiences in Malaysia that I truly 'woke up'. It was not unlike another famous seeker who left his palace (my palace being a relatively comfortable existence in Australia) and then saw the abject poverty of how others lived their life, that the 'eyes of separation' were opened, and the painful edge of compassion stirred. So began the quest for answers. (at age 18).

what I want is best summed up in the quest for unity consciousness, and being able to hold this vibration at all times, for the highest level of service possible. Ra said it best in two places:

57.33 In the experiences of the mystical search for unity, these need never be considered, for they are but part of an illusory system. The seeker seeks the One. This One is to be sought, as we have said, by the balanced and self-accepting self, aware both of its apparent distortions and its total perfection. Resting in this balanced awareness, the entity then opens the self to the universe which it is.

Everything else in my life supports this task; for by the exposure to daily, unsettling, challenging catalyst, one learns where the current blockages are, and then is alerted where to direct one's attention to undo those blockages. But the goal is not for perfection of unblockage, but rather the unblocked state is the one that enables one to hold the perfect, consistent, unwavering vibration of unity.

that is what I seek, and drives my purpose. From the moment I awake, I use my dreams to further this task, when I am at work or on these forums I keenly monitor my awareness for the slightest deviation from peace of mind, and as soon as it happens, I hone in on it, and do everything I can to reverse the projection, and find the memory in my past that caused the projection (it is in almost all cases an 'approved' statement that has subtle implications for division).

so it is this ongoing fluctuation ... peace of mind for 5 minutes or 2 hours, and then the peace of mind is lost due to projection. I take as long as I need to undo the projection (it can take 10 seconds or half a day) and then the peace of mind is regained. And such is the process of constant rebalancing as catalyst comes in, is recognised, processed and experienced, seated, and then the transformation applied.

it is joyous being in the state of peace of mind ... it is also joyous being in the state of non peace-of-mind as you do the work thoroughly, with care, with knowledge, and full expectation that the blockage will be cleared very soon.

No I think that's spot on as long as it results in complete awareness of Being. Being instead of desiring to Be is like the Buddhist saying regarding trying "there is no trying. There is only doing or not doing." To be anything outside of Being, one succumbs to desires that are counterproductive to such an end result. One could also restate it as that famous quote "to be or not to be".

So we can desire all to our hearts content but if we don't practice what we preach, such desires become an anchor restricting us from further awareness and completeness of obtaining that all "desirable" I AM that we all, including myself aspire. Come to think of it, wouldn't aspire be a better word than desire? Maybe its a matter of semantics but it does a nice ring to it as opposed to desire.

For me, I was born in this union, so I remember how it was. It didn't matter where I was, with whom, or what I did - there was this bubbling joy, a sense of infinite mystery and my heart was pounding with love, joy... Then I lost this union, and eventually forgot about it.

So, when I became a teenager, I started to seek something, and was fortunate enough to explore many desires through my life. But there was always a hunger present there, a dissatisfaction. Nothing was enough. And then, I got really lucky and found Ra.

There is one other quote that I thought of in regards to this discussion:

The proper role of the entity is in this density to experience all things desired, to then analyze, understand, and accept these experiences, distilling from them the love/light within them. Nothing shall be overcome. That which is not needed falls away.

The orientation develops due to analysis of desire. These desires become more and more distorted towards conscious application of love/light as the entity furnishes itself with distilled experience. We have found it to be inappropriate in the extreme to encourage the overcoming of any desires, except to suggest the imagination rather than the carrying out in the physical plane, as you call it, of those desires not consonant with the Law of One; this preserving the primal distortion of free will.

The reason it is unwise to overcome is that overcoming is an unbalanced action creating difficulties in balancing in the time/space continuum. Overcoming thus creates the further environment for holding onto that which apparently has been overcome.

All things are acceptable in the proper time for each entity, and in experiencing, in understanding, in accepting, in then sharing with other-selves, the appropriate description shall be moving away from distortions of one kind to distortions of another which may be more consonant with the Law of One.

It is, shall we say, a shortcut to simply ignore or overcome any desire. It must instead be understood and accepted. This takes patience and experience which can be analyzed with care, with compassion for self and for other-self.

It's utility is paramount in our development - to understand them, accept them, forgive self/other, etc. etc. Perhaps one day there will come a time when one may go beyond the loop when these lessons are sufficiently saturated.
